Cumbuco
Cumbuco
is a small fishing town approximately 25 kilometres from
Fortaleza and with a population of around 2,000. Despite
its increasing popularity, Cumbuco remains one of Brazil's
best-kept secrets because it has the most spectacular
beaches in the Fortaleza area, and is one of the best
places in the world for kite surfing and windsurfing.
Right
on the beach you'll find a range of barracas (beach restaurants)
where, for less than a Euro, you can relax with a beer,
carparinha, and a fresh fruit juice. Fresh fish, crabfish
and lobster are also on the menu for around 8 Euros.
Cumbuco
is renowned for its striking backdrop of sand dunes and
visitors to the town can enjoy a buggy tour through the
dunes, culminating in an exhilirating slide on a sandboard
from the top of a dune into a small, natural lake. e.
