Canoa Quebrada
About
200 kilometers south of Cumbuco the village of Canoa Quebrada
(broken canoe) is situated. It is well-known for its beautiful
beach and exciting nightlife. Canoa is also referred to
as the Woodstock of Brazil. During the sixties a lot of
hippies stranded here and stayed. Famous personalities
like Mick Jagger and Mano Chao visited the place regularly.
The white sandy beach is separated from the village by
steep red cliffs.
The
excursion to Canoa Quebrada takes three to five days and
start Fridays or Saturdays. A buggy will take you along
the beach to Canoa. A fantastic trip including three ferry
crossings over a river. The journey lasts five hours and
we will stop for lunch at the village of Morro Branco.
In Canoa we will be spending the night in a Pousada. The
return trip takes about four hours, mainly by road.
The
three-day trip costs 350 Reais (about 100 euros) per person,
including bed and breakfast twice, with aminimum of two
persons. The five-day trip, with B&B four times costs
500 Reais (circa 140 euros) per person.
