Jericoacoara
This
picturesque village about 300 kilometers south of Cumbuco
was acclaimed by Time Magazine as one of the ten most
beautiful beaches in the world. Jericoacoara, the locals
call it Jeri, is situated in a protected nature reserve,
its most striking features being large white dunes, fresh
water and salt water lakes and a varied vegetation such
as palm trees, rainforest, rocky areas and natural beaches.
Less
then fifteen years ago Jeri was only an isolated fishing
village, without roads, electricity, television, radio
etcetera. Today this has changed, but mass tourism is
still nowhere to be found. Low-rise buildings, no trace
of hotel chains, the roads are unpaved and there is no
street lighting. You visit romantic Jeri for peace and
quiet and its breathtaking nature. One of the highlights
is the spectacular sunset .
The
three-day excursion to Jeri includes transport to the
busstation in Fortaleza, coach return ticket to Jericoacoara,
two nights in a pousada and transport back to Laranja
Mecanica. This costs 350 Reais (about 100 euros) per person.
